My primary hobby and my job are pretty much the same. Anything to do
with Technology. Having to be a logical and critical thinker
sometimes has its’ downside. I have noticed over the years it is more
and more of a struggle to be creative. As time goes by it becomes harder
and harder to find my creative and inspiring Muse !
My secondary hobby is writing. You would think I would have gotten a lot
better by now; However, my primary hobby keeps me pretty busy just
studying and learning enough new technologies to keep pace with my job
and the expectations other people put on me. Which, by the way, I do not
mind, if you are not challenging your mind everyday your not growing. If
your not growing, your not living your life to the fullest.
If Cirque du Soleil could be a
hobby, it would be my hobby. I am a HUGE fan ! I have seen just about
all the shows except Kooza, O, Zumanity and Wintuk. I am totally
fascinated and amazed by the talent they recruit for the shows. I can go
to a show and not have to be me. I sit there and my mind is totally
immersed in the fantasy and the journey of the show. The artistic
creations of the costumes and sets are probably the most creative
thinking I have seen anywhere ! They are truly there to delight and
entertain ! If you have never seen a Cirque show, GO to one if you can,
if not, You can rent a DVD from NetFlix. Before you view a Cirque Du
Soleil show, go to the website and read the story behind the show, you
will get a better appreciation for its' content and creativity.
I like to write poetry, I think it is a good forum for self expression
and communication. Often times we have a hard time saying what is really
important to us. I think poetry is a good outlet for the sincerest form
of self expression.
The poet speaks from a true and pure heart. I appreciate the beauty in
purity. I appreciate, even empathize with the anger and frustration the
poet often feels. I feel the poet’s joy and share in that joy. I look
for the message and vision the poet is taking me toward. I have never
really read a bad poem, I try to think of where it came from and
what the poet must have been thinking at that particular time and where
he must have come from to speak those words. I am intrigued at the
thought of knowing the poets journey in life.
You will find a lot of my poems are about angels. I guess that would
also be a hobby. Studying the evolution and impact Angels have had on
the lives of people throughout time. To some, Mythology, to others,
Truth. Each Angel story I read seems very familiar, very comforting.
I would like to make travel a hobby, however, that takes more money than
I make. So for now I travel when I can and let the internet fulfill my
travel dreams when I can't...
When I travel, I obviously want to visit the major travel destinations
and tourist attractions to experience the rich cultural histories each
country has to offer...however, I always take time to visit places where
ordinary people like myself would live and work. I have come to
realize...no matter what language you speak, your dreams and goals in
life are very similar to mine. It’s nice to share that with people in a
country so far off, yet seemingly so close to home.
Photography is another one of my hobbies. Digital technologies have made
it more affordable for everyone to take great pictures. You can have a
look at some of the pictures I have taken over the years.
This year MasterCard bought some of my photographs
for their Priceless Campaign.
As with poetry, I try to imagine myself as the photographer. Standing
there, looking at the beauty God has given us, sometimes.. looking at
the sadness… I think there is a story behind every photograph; I try to
imagine what the photographer is saying.
I think most of the time, its’ just “ Here, I want to share this
beautiful moment in time.” Then, other times I see “ This is something I
never want to forget ! I want to go back and be able to relive
this moment over and over again.“
Then there the photograph that says “ Look what Man has done to this
place or this person “ I cry with the photographers heart for his
sadness and his insight to share and have a voice. There are millions of
great photos out there, just waiting to be captured.
I think we really only see the world within a very narrow scope. We
really do not take the time to look at reality for very long.
I am just going to leave that statement alone and let you think about
it. Justify what you can, do something about the rest of it.
As you browse through the different sections of my web site, you will
notice changes in the overall theme.
The creative side of me thinks each section should be Theme appropriate.
So each section of my site has a different theme. I want the themes to
reflect the content. hmm... that may be from the logical side of me....
